You have broken ffmpeg. Read this thread. Reinstalling ffmpeg should fix the problem.

thanks, just checked and yes, ffmpeg is broken. it's a home-brew issue of not installing the openjpeg lib correctly. i had to manually alias the libopenjpeg lib and fix the pkg-config.
