Not sure whether this is an issue with youtube-dl or ffmpeg.

Works fine for me. How does http://player.ooyala.com/player/ipad/J4NXB4djqiGBj6JAGO_YxRX6KRPdM2Vk_3500.m3u8 look like for you? Can you download with --hls-prefer-native?

It worked great with --hls-prefer-native, although it did seem to download it in chunks? The resulting file is one file, though, and plays correctly.

EDIT: Note that I used the default cURL user agent. This might affect the exact playlist being served, as it doesn't identify as an iPad or anything like that. Let me know if you want me to fetch it with other parameters.

i get the two errors:

  • Error when loading first segment
  • Invalid data found when processing input

@remitamine That should be a network problem. youtube-dl can do nothing for that.

@joepie91 Could you run the following command and paste the output?

You'll probably need to compile ffmpeg on your own (I guess all those options are used because of license issues)

I've got a similar error. Not sure whether it's related. If it's not I can open a new issue.
I don't think my ffmpeg has disabled m3u8 and/or mp4 support so that's why to me it looks a bit strange.
