What is the purpose of your issue?

  • Bug report (encountered problems with youtube-dl)

If the purpose of this issue is a bug report, site support request or you are not completely sure provide the full verbose output as follows:

Add -v flag to your command line you run youtube-dl with, copy the whole output and insert it here. It should look similar to one below (replace it with your log inserted between triple ```):

$ youtube-dl -v -i --skip-download --write-pages --restrict-filenames https://www.instagram.com/natljazzmuseum/

Description of your issue, suggested solution and other information

Downloading all items for an Instagram user seems to loop indefinitely.

Since today, downloading all items from an Instagram profile doesn't work; if I run the command using --write-pages (see the log above) only two identical *.dump files are actually written to disc:

natljazzmuseum_http_-_instagram.com_natljazzmuseum_media.dump
natljazzmuseum_http_-_instagram.com_natljazzmuseum_mediamax_id=1111788462614946985_1640045680.dump

In fact, the program keeps displaying messages as if it was downloading further pages, but without actually doing anything; it seems trapped in an infinite loop, until I press Ctrl-C.

Using the example URL provided above I would expect the program to download about 6 *.dump files (105 posts are advertised in the instagram page, and IIRC there are 20 posts per page).
