I got this error message while trying to download an facebook video that appeared in my timeline. (The video is set on public): youtube-dl https://www.facebook.com/thebuzz.nba/videos/1042682435839199/ --verbose

I'm also using the new ubuntu bash in windows.

Error message: Unable to download webpage: The read operation timed out (caused by SSLError('The read operation timed out',)); please report this issue on https://yt-dl.org/bug

The current version is I'm using is 2016.05.21.2

AFAIK Ubuntu on Windows is not so stable yet. Could you try directly in Windows?
