In some cases, some transactions with joinsplits do not get mined. If the transaction's fee is paid by a joinsplit, the fee isn't detected by the miner, so the miner doesn't mine the transaction.

Temporary workaround for miners/pools: Patch with #1718 or set -blockminsize to 300KB.

We will release a new version (1.0.1) soon which fixes this issue.

original report below

transaction generated from zaddr to zaddr is not confirmed for hours now. Explaining current situation: I have 5 running nodes and I am able to get tx details by using gettransaction cb502a746d64116aec1cf77fa945faa58103604f8b7280df070200636bb8d804 on two nodes only.
I can get details by using getrawtransaction cb502a746d64116aec1cf77fa945faa58103604f8b7280df070200636bb8d804

Also getrawmempool true shows this transaction:

    "cb502a746d64116aec1cf77fa945faa58103604f8b7280df070200636bb8d804" : {

        "currentpriority" : 225.24882137,
        "depends" : [
        ]
    },

I noticed that in mempool there are several transactions like mine (even older)

Note that this is the node that was recovered from a wallet db inconsistency as described in #1694 (comment) . That may or may not be related to this bug.

The symptoms are consistent with the transaction not being viewed as standard. @feeleep75, can you paste the gettransaction output for that transaction here? (IIRC, it had a single JoinSplit with a public output that paid the 0.0001 ZEC transaction fee, and nothing else.)

One hypothesis we had was that the anchor might have been invalidated, if it was associated with an orphan block. See also #1614.

However, in that case the transaction should have been kicked out of the mempool, by DisconnectTip. We don't know whether that's happening correctly.

BTW, if it helps, there's no reason to believe we can't either make those transactions go through or replace them, even if we have to fix a bug to do it. The money is not lost.

@daira tnx for the kind words. But still, at the time of the transactions, they were worth 20 BTC, by the time they go through...we will see, not as much for sure...

@feeleep75 Your transaction with txid cb502a746d64116aec1cf77fa945faa58103604f8b7280df070200636bb8d804 has just been mined in block 759. Did you re-send the raw transaction or nothing at all?

@krilson I don't see your three transactions anywhere. They have not been mined and they do not exist in my node's mempool.

I can confirm that I am seeing the same issues for multiple transactions from z addresses to z addresses! All those transactions were created using the standard z_sendmany RPC call and the node they were submitted to was mining.

When I restart the daemon I get this in the log when it connects:

2016-10-29 10:19:21 AddToWallet 3757512f261712a5643aebf81c43367c79123c67f23194446636cc653b1ce815

My missing two transactions I assume.

But balance still shows 0.

Is there a minimum confirmation count for the balance to show?

Things are to end very badly for Zcash, untested coin and untested algo, bugs from the first hour. People will loose millions.

Of course there are bugs. We were quite clear that there would be bugs, and that people should not invest any more in Zcash than they can afford to lose.

I'm a Zcash developer. Anyway, please stick to the topic of this ticket; I will delete any further off-topic comments.

The fees for z_sendmany transactions couldn't be more regular; they are always 0.0001 ZEC. By "min payouts" I assume you're talking about the policies of mining pools, which have nothing to do with the software in this repo.

We have multiple users with the same problem (also discussed on the forum - https://forum.z.cash/t/zcash-desktop-gui-wallet/2129/53). Example transaction of type Z->Z that is stayng unconfirmed for maybe 6h+ (sent within the same wallet between Z addresses, the node was not mining):

The problem is that pure joinsplit transactions appear to be discriminated against in the miner selection logic.

Why would some get through and some wouldn't?

Was it something the sender did wrong? Can this be avoided somehow on the current protocol version when creating a transaction like this? Would a larger fee do anything to aid the miner selection logic in including these transactions faster or ever?

Daira I see you likely have worked on some miners, seeing your cuda activity on Github, can you tell me what path I might find on Windows to solo mine zCash?

I currently am using this miner from genoil, latest. It's interesting to me that it doesn't work on all my machines, which I'm not sure the cause yet.

But I use AMD, any tips ? or suggestions for solo mining? I already play with suprnova but with the restricted rewards for first week and everyone jumping on board, I figure I might as well just go for it and solo heh - since there is virtually no reward to mining via pool this week.

Thanks

Tim Miltz

P.S. Very cool to see assembly language in your profile :) I find great peace at times at assembly level.

zkbot
Auto merge of #1718 - ebfull:valid-fee-selection, r=nathan-at-least
Properly account for JoinSplit value when deciding if a transaction should be placed in a mined block.

Closes #1705.

The transaction selection logic in miner.cpp was not updated to account for JoinSplit value. This caused issues that include, but are not limited to, miners not including pure JoinSplit transactions in their blocks.

Hello Guys,

i got a big problem.

I send from cryptonator 6.x ZEC to my hardware ledger wallet, after 30Hours its dont confirmed in my wallet.

Transaction ID : 821810a34670614f645e8775337da8b6a952642369308df8bdc27178e7455730

Yesterday i found the transaction id there:
https://zcashnetwork.info/tx/821810a34670614f645e8775337da8b6a952642369308df8bdc27178e7455730
At this morning, the transaction id wasnt found with that link/id.
Now 8Hours later, i see the transaction id at that link, but with a other date and time.

Normaly the transactions need max 10-15 Minutes.

I send 3 Zec from my hardware ledger wallet to a exchange and there is too not confirmed near 24 Hours.

Fee is on 0.0001 ZEC

Can me explain some one, what i have to do, or whats going on here?

I opened a ticket today on cryptonator, but i think they dont can do something.

I am mining self ZEC, can i mine my transaction self?

Umpf, i am confused.

Thats my wallet address

I know, it gives much more peoples like me, if you see the unconfirmed transactions
