From http://code.google.com/p/zotonic/issues/detail?id=42

It would be nice to have better reporting for the following aspects of a
zotonic system.

This dashboard functionality would encompass the following:

  • crashes: which gen_servers have crashed and when (also: live feedback
when a gen_server crashes using a broadcast message!)
  • hits / page requests / stats (integration with google analytics)
  • current connections (users)
  • an error log per gen_server with crash reports

I have a basic error logger to signal module here: https://bitbucket.org/stenius/mod_report_handler
Which is easy to hook into any page by simply adding {% include "_error_reports.tpl" %}, or writing some custom tpl stuff to hook into the error_report signal.

As I'm redoing the stats reporting mechanism.... what core zotonic things need to be counted and or measured?

Things I came up with.

  • number of http/https requests
  • emails received/sent
  • number of 1xx/2xx/3xx/4xx/5xx responses served
