We have a spawnAndComplete that's been pretty stable for a while in GitHub Desktop:

https://github.com/desktop/desktop/blob/master/app/src/lib/git/spawn.ts

It'd be nice to enhance the base GitProcess.spawn with whatever Desktop needs for v2.
