Description

I had 10+ extensions (many with config/settings I've now lost) that are now gone after installing Dissenter 0.69 from 0.65. LastPass and Acrobat are still here but everything else is gone (Stylebot, bit.ly shortener, and 10+ more)

Steps to Reproduce

No idea if it's consistent. But I had 10+ extensions installed in Dissenter all working fine for months - then I closed Dissenter and installed a new version of Dissenter and now 95% of my extensions and their data is gone. So I guess to try reproducing install 10+ extensions in Dissenter, then reinstall or upgrade Dissenter. Then relaunch and see if your extensions are still there.

Actual result:

All but 2 of my extensions were still there after the upgrade of Dissenter.

Expected result:

All my extensions and their data should still be there after upgrading Dissenter.

Reproduces how often:

No idea ... I may never upgrade again now.

Brave version (brave://version info)

Version 0.69.132 Chromium: 77.0.3865.90 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Miscellaneous Information:

Odd things I noticed just now

  1. When I add new extensions now the button says "Add to Brave" not "Add to Dissenter". Did it always say Brave here? I wonder if that's a clue to what happened here? But my app icon is the Dissenter icon?

  2. When I go into Dissenter settings I see this message: "Some settings were reset
Dissenter detected that some of your settings were corrupted by another program and reset them to their original defaults. Learn more"

Sorry... this was related to the latest version being a total re-write of the process that converts Brave to Dissenter... your user settings folder has changed. It's possible to save it (by renaming the folder), but I had not recognized the issue before shipping. Will update this later with the path names, I'm not in front of a PC at the moment.

Added instructions to the last windows build on how to find and rename the user data folder: https://apps.gab.com/application/5d3f93a29dd49a5b1d9fc27f/resource/5d9804076827cd639c3eeae5
