Remote MCP Server

Describe the feature or problem you’d like to solve

I think it would be great if this MCP server would be available remotely, so we don't need to use Docker or build it from source locally. With this we can call this MCP server from deployed AI agents.

Proposed solution

I think it would be easy for Github to implement this using Cloudflare's architecture. They can even use OAuth. Here is the tutorial.

I'm not working on it, mainly just helping out on the OSS maintenance side of things so I can't say for sure, and I'm sure the team wouldn't want me to put them on the spot. However, I'd expect that it's coming 🔮 soon. Sorry I can't be more transparent!

+1 for this feature, it would be better to have it out-of-the-box instead of having to wrap it up in an http app.

+1 on this, would love to deploy the GitHub MCP Server to Cloud Run and showcase it in a new Agent Development Kit (ADK) sample: https://github.com/google/adk-samples/tree/main/java/agents/software-bug-assistant

But lack of remote support stopped us from doing so 😢
