Notifications are sometimes used to highlight important information within a box in the body text.
In this case, the markup is suitable as role="note".

A note role suggests a section whose content is parenthetic or ancillary to the main content.

This issue should discuss if an additional property for setting role="note" could be introduced.

As discussed with @nmerget I was doing something wrong and indeed, it's already possible to pass a role. I will close this issue and open a new one for default roles.
