Like many others before me, I stumbled upon the frustrating limitation of not being able to set a custom block page in our beloved AdGuard Home. The (fortunately) widespread adoption of TLS hasn’t been accompanied by a flexible evolution of DNS protocols, leaving us in a situation where it’s very difficult to tell whether a website has been blocked by DNS filters or if something else has gone wrong. This is especially true for a product like AdGuard Home, which is typically hosted in our personal LANs, where our families are the primary users.
I came across this article, where the AdGuard team expresses support for the implementation of Draft 8914. If adopted by client software (especially browsers) this would be a tremendous help for DNS filtering servers.
Team, do you have any updates on the current status of this initiative?
Are you actively engaging with browser developers to encourage implementation?
And what can we, as users, do to help speed up the process?
