There already is a function in utils for this [here](https://github.com/alan-turing-institute/autoemulate/blob/8b50621e3018b8d83f2b2bfa7fabbad6c6c14359/autoemulate/utils.py#L360). Something like this should be used in the experimental (probably in the AutoEmulate object).
