Native+hidden title bar broken since 1.101

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Yes

• VS Code Version: 1.101.0
• OS Version: macOS 26.0 Developer Beta 1

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Set "Title Bar Style" setting to "native"
2. Set "Custom Title Bar Visiblity" to "never"
3. As per the documentation, this should result in VSCode having no title bar at all (even though the names indicate otherwise)
   But ever since I updated to VSCode 1.101 a native title bar is displayed regardless of the setting.

@merlindru do you have many other settings configured? Can you try removing all other settings except these two? You could do this by creating a different profile

@benibenj I used "New Window with Temporary Profile" to test. The issue persists

To rephrase, the issue is that since 1.101, the native title bar is displayed.

Before, setting

  "window.customTitleBarVisibility": "never"

would hide all title bars entirely, on macOS 15 at least. So there was no custom and no native title bar. This was really useful to me because of the extra free 1-3 lines of code/screen space I got.

Essentially like a borderless window.

Now, it behaves more in line with what I'd expect of these settings, considering their names. But not what I need.

It seems this was a bug caused by one of the extensions I had previously installed — either APC or "Custom UI Style" — which altered the internals of vscode permanently, even after uninstalling the ext. And updating reset it/fixed it. Sorry!
