This suggests that you do not have Rich shell integration, which you can verify by hovering the terminal tab and selecting Show Details. Shell integration allows us to accurately detect when a terminal command has finished executing. Without it, we fall back to using a timeout before proceeding, which assumes the command has completed.

If you have custom terminal.integrated.profile args or startup scripts that clash with our shell integration, it will not work.
