Update SECURITY.md #250673
Conversation
This release brings crucial security enhancements, particularly relevant for Microsoft-centric development. The core focus of this push is to highlight the paramount importance of installing extensions only from reliable and verified sources. Recent trends show a significant increase in program exploitation via compromised or malicious extensions, making vigilance essential. To aid in this, we've provided concrete examples of dangerous extensions often seen in Visual Studio Code, such as malicious linters, formatters, and tools with excessive permissions. By carefully reviewing extension publishers and requested permissions, we can collectively strengthen our project's security posture.
