Another way of deaemonizing the script.

I use screen to run long running php scripts that I have.
I have written a small script ( http://blog.valqk.com/archives/Screen-automatic-startup-44.html ) with easy to setup configs that I run on startup.
The nice thing is that you can still print on STDOUT whatever you want (of course in logs too) and be able to see what's happening with the process.

Just my 5 cents. Hope that helps someone.
