Discussion: build-first or component-first?

While talking with Danny, the thought of whether users who enter the guide should first build a component or compose a component with already existing functionality came up.

I think it's worth discussion (with a time box probably, so we don't bike shed forever). I like the idea of building a small component (the adder we have today) before being introduced to trying to reuse functionality, but I can see the simplicity/applicability of showing people how to import functionality first as well.

Would like to open up discussion (for a few weeks at least) and see if there are any other opinions here/user feedback to gather.

I'm going to close this for now, since I think it's less than actionable -- I think we can revisit if we deviate from this or it's worth discussing again. Since we don't have discussions enabled right now (and maybe we don't need to), we can keep using discussions-as-issues.
