When working with legacy products/solutions, the need to find the correct gem version for a specific ruby version is needed. Currently, there does not seem to be a solution to quickly find the correct gem version. I would like to be able to specify the Required Ruby Version in the advanced search.

Thanks for the feature request. Sadly this is not simple request actually, since require ruby version can be any valid Gem::Version constraint like > 1.8, != 2.3, < 3.2

What exactly are you looking for? Would you like to filter gems only allowed on given Ruby version like > 2.3 or at specific version like 2.3.5? The only "simple" approach I see currently is to do post filtering in Ruby world and checking each result if matching Gem::Version constraint, which could be expensive for search lists and exotic Ruby versions. Also notice currently this search operates only on latest gem version. Are you looking for any rubygem version supported for searched Ruby?

PS: If you would like to search on your own or do any analysis, you can grab data snapshot at https://rubygems.org/pages/data and filter gems by required_ruby_version column of versions table. You can do something like following.

my_ruby = Gem::Version.new('2.3')
ruby_23_versions = Version.where.not(required_rubygems_version: '').filter do |version| 
  Gem::Requirement.new(version.required_rubygems_version).satisfied_by?(my_ruby)
end
