Document title containg the name of the entire website #4449
-
Dear experts, I'm not sure whether the WCAG requires a general description of the entire website in the document title. The G127 and G88 techniques are somewhat contradictory to me. While G88 mentions the part identifying the entire web presence as “helpful”, G127 requires it. I would be very happy to receive feedback. best regards |

Starting off with a reminder that techniques are just approaches, suggestions, and are not normative. You can pass an SC without following any technique, as long as the end result satisfies the SC's high level requirement. Next up, techniques are split into "Sufficient" (following the approach in one of these techniques is deemed to be sufficient to pass the SC) and "Advisory" (which go above and beyond what the normative requirement of the SC is - "Although not required for conformance, the following additional techniques should be considered in order to make content more accessible"). G88 is sufficient. G127 is advisory https://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG22/Understanding/page-titled.html#techniques |
