Words to Waves is an audiobook conversion tool that enables users to upload a document (PDF or image-based files) and convert the text to an audio format. Whether you have a novel, a manual, or any other text-based document, this app can read it aloud to you, transforming it into an audiobook. Perfect for those who want to listen to content instead of reading it.

Features

Easy File Upload: Simply upload a PDF or image-based document, and the app will extract the text for conversion. Audio Conversion: The text is then converted into an audio file in the form of a clear and accessible spoken version. Customizable: The app allows for easy extensions to support other file types or enhancements to the text-to-speech algorithm. User-Friendly Interface: A modern, responsive UI with clear instructions and feedback. Tech Stack Backend: Flask (Python) Frontend: HTML, TailwindCSS (for styling) Audio Conversion: gTTS (Google Text-to-Speech) or other text-to-speech libraries. File Handling: pdf2image (for PDF to Image conversion), PyTesseract (for OCR text extraction) Installation

  1. Clone the repository: bash Copy Edit git clone https://github.com/yourusername/words-to-waves.git cd words-to-waves
  2. Set up a virtual environment (optional but recommended): bash Copy Edit python -m venv venv source venv/bin/activate # For Windows, use venv\Scripts\activate
  3. Install the required dependencies: bash Copy Edit pip install -r requirements.txt
  4. Start the Flask server: bash Copy Edit python app.py Your app will be running on http://127.0.0.1:5000. You can now upload a file and convert it into an audiobook!

Usage

Open the web app: Go to http://127.0.0.1:5000 in your browser. Upload a Document: Choose a document (PDF or an image with text). Convert to Audio: Click the "Convert to Audio" button to start the conversion. Listen: Once the conversion is complete, you can listen to your audiobook directly from the player that appears on the page. Contributing We welcome contributions!
