Alternative IP source

Hello and thank you very much for this awesome repo. It has been a great help for me. However, I recently put my server behind a VPN, so now the IP address is updating to the VPN IP instead of the actual server IP. Would it be difficult to add an environment variable to override the IP address source? I would like to create my own API endpoint to use for this.
