The previous set of updates (#716) caused miss-islington to "become unresponsive", however it's not clear what caused that.
@ambv do you have more info about the specific issue you observed last time?

The async queue wouldn't progress. I didn't look into why. Unless there's security fixes in this PR, I wouldn't update it right now.

One option is to merge this and monitor miss-islington to see if she gets stuck again. The latest updates (included in this PR) might have fixed the issue you saw in #716 and, if they didn't, we can always revert this too and investigate further.
