while the samples will indeed show the tooltip when the mouse hover stops on top of the element, i would like to ask if this behavior is also possible on a certain area in the canvas? not all of it.

data-id conflicts

As you are a Javascript plugin, you should not use an attribute as generic, to avoid conflicts, it would be a good idea to rename it adding your name prefix like data-ot-id or data-opentip-id.
