I got this in the IDE after installing Arduino AVR Boards version 1.6.21:

Could not start editor support.
Error during build: fork/exec /Users/akos.kitta/Library/Arduino15/packages/arduino/tools/avr-gcc/4.9.2-atmel3.5.4-arduino2/bin/avr-g++: bad CPU type in executable

No errors with the latest 1.8.1.

The error comes from the CLI.
