@r0y-batty are you sure it's Tidal using MQA? Lots of people are listening to hi res lossless right now. I think the real reason might be what @JohnnyWestlake said, we need to get tidal-dl somewhere to use access token or client id that has HI_RES_LOSSLESS.

@yaronzz do you need to update Tidal-dl for the new API to work?

Some Albums are already in HighRes available but the majority are still MQA.

You can check with USB Audio Player Pro (Android) if HighRes or MQA. Also your DAC will display the format on the display.

I think the API Token can not influence the file format. You get what is still available (HighRes or MQA)

If for certain Albums, HighRes is not available because Tidal is behind with transitioning from MQA to HighRes, an API Token can not affect the file format.

Having HiFi Plus is only part of the problem. The API token used by Tidal-DL by default doesn't return HI_RES_LOSSLESS. Using an access token generated by the desktop client however does allow this.

I did switch the access token of Tidal-dl to the desktop client one. Still having this issue...

Just to clarify:

1. When we attempt to download a MAX file using token 1 (Fire TV | Master-Only, Else Error) the download fails with error "failed.Can't get the streamUrl, type is application/dash+xml"
2. When we attempt with token 4 (Android Auto | Normal/High/HiFi/Master) what we get is the file in normal 16/44.1 resolution (the one that Tidal names "HIGH") even if the file is 24/192
3. In case a MAX file is from Universal (DG, Decca, Hyperion, etc) or Sony and a few other companies the MAX file downloads as MQA using token 1
   However, what we actually need is that yaronzz modifies the program accordingly so MAX files not belonging to the companies producing MQA can be downloaded as Hi-Res files.
