It would be highly beneficial if Network Policies could support the Layer 7 (L7) of the OSI model. Currently, Network Policies in Kubernetes are primarily focused on the Network Layer (L3) and the Transport Layer (L4) to control the traffic flow between pods.
We are currently using Cilium Network Policy due to the lack of L7 layer support in native Kubernetes Network Policies. Having L7 support in Kubernetes Network Policies would be highly beneficial for achieving better security and control.
