Summary

Once both upstream OTCs (satellite and central) are deployed and configured. We need to configure each service that uses tracing to use the local collector, rather than HC directly.

This involves two changes:

  • Configure to point to the local OTC
  • Remove any local sampling settings (i.e. set sampling to 100%)

Checklist

  • Gather list of all services to change
  • Make necessary changes to all service configurations
  • Test that traces are being received by HC and Tempo
