create-react-app has been deprecated and react-scripts will continue haunting us with dependencies with vulnerabilities.
I suspect vite might be a good option/replacement? Possibly remix?

I m pretty sure this was default project template stuff. I ve maybe used it in the past as a sort of heartbeat API I can
access but there are better ways to support that/keep that around.
