IntelliSense is not working after tsconfig is initialized

Issue troubleshooting has identified that the issue is with Visual Studio Code.

I can get IntelliSense suggestions before my tsconfig.json file is initialized, but after, that, it stops working completely. I have tried restarting the TS server, the app, the computer, even deleting my repo locally and cloning it again - nothing fixes this issue.
