Flatten nested sequence

Is it possible to use yq to selectively flatten sequences which might contain elements which are also sequence?

e.g. transform:

apples:
- x
- - y
  - z
pears:
- x
- - y
  - z

to:

apples:
- x
- y
- z
pears:
- x
- - y
  - z

The nested sequences would only be one level deep as above.

Sure, you can use the flatten command:

E.g.

yq '.apples |= flatten' data1.yaml
apples:
  - x
  - y
  - z
pears:
  - x
  - - y
    - z

Explanation:

• |= will update a particular field relative to its own value (doc)
