Mac Sequoia Install - unable to load libxcrun

Description of issue

Homebrew was successfully installed on my Mac (Intel chip) running Sequoia 15.2 yesterday and seemed to be running fine. I shut my computer down for the night and rebooted it this morning to find Homebrew seems to have vanished overnight.

When I attempt to reinstall it via the /bin/bash code from the Homebrew homepage in Terminal, I receive the below error.

xcrun: error: unable to load libxcrun (dlopen(/Library/Developer/CommandLineTools/usr/lib/libxcrun.dylib, 0x0005): tried: '/Library/Developer/CommandLineTools/usr/lib/libxcrun.dylib' (mach-o file, but is an incompatible architecture (have 'x86_64', need 'arm64e')), '/System/Volumes/Preboot/Cryptexes/OS/Library/Developer/CommandLineTools/usr/lib/libxcrun.dylib' (no such file), '/Library/Developer/CommandLineTools/usr/lib/libxcrun.dylib' (mach-o file, but is an incompatible architecture (have 'x86_64', need 'arm64e'))). Failed during: /usr/bin/git -c init.defaultBranch=master init --quiet

I've tried the .pkg Installer, which appears to go through with no error messages. When I attempt to use Homebrew in my terminal after this installation, it tells me-bash: brew: command not found so does not seem to have actually installed.

You seem to have at least a couple of problems:

• Are you running on a Rosetta-enabled terminal (which in turn runs everything in Intel emulation mode)?
  • What's the output of arch? If it says x86_64 you're running in Rosetta.
  • Regardless, it looks like you ran the Command Line Tools installation in Intel mode. You'll need to sudo rm -fr /Library/Developer/CommandLineTools, then arch to double-check you're not in Intel emulation mode, then xcode-select --install to redo the CLT installation.
• brew: command not found after an installation with no warnings or errors means brew isn't in your PATH. Did you run all the commands in the Next Steps section displayed at the end of the installation process? (You seem to have at least run the final one, which adds the Homebrew bin directory to the PATH of your running terminal session, but that doesn't make it permanent.)
  • What's the output of /opt/homebrew/bin/brew config and /opt/homebrew/bin/brew doctor?

I tried downloading Xcode from the app store and reinstalling Homebrew following all of the next steps command, which seems to have worked.

The arch output is arm64 and the output of brew doctor is

Alternatively, manually download them from:

Open a new tab in your Terminal, then see if brew config actually works.

Then you missed a step from the Next Steps section that the installer printed. It looks like you ran eval "$(/opt/homebrew/bin/brew shellenv)", which sets up your PATH for the shell session that you ran it in, but there's another line just before that, that looks like this:

echo 'eval "$(/opt/homebrew/bin/brew shellenv)"' >> some_strange_file_path

Go back to the tab you ran the installer in and read that output carefully, then copy that specific command line, then paste and run it. After that, open another new Terminal tab and run brew config.
