Android - Unable to resume song from lock screen

Current Behavior

On the lock screen, resuming a paused song does not work. I can pause a song, but when I press the play button to resume nothing happens. I have to unlock my phone and click the play button in the notification bar or directly in the app.

Expected Behavior

Being able to resume song from lock screen.

Steps to reproduce

1. Start playing a song.
2. Lock the phone.
3. Pause the music by clicking the pause button on the lock screen.
4. Resume the music by clicking the play button on the lock screen.

Additional information

Previous and next song buttons work fine.
Same problem when pausing before locking.
