Typing to search in `File: Open recent...` breaks separation between "folders and workspace" and "files"

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Trigger File: Open recent... through command palatte or through keyboard shortcut CTRL + R in linux
2. Notice that the recent items in the list stay segregated between "folders and workspace" and "files"
3. Start searching a recent item from your "folders and workspace" category (by typing few matching characters from it)
4. Notice that the suggestions is now randomly placing the recent item in a list, which is not segregated anymore.

IIRC, this started happening only when I upgraded from 1.96.* to 1.97.2. Kindly look into this.

I just tried 1.94 and it has the same behavior you describe... Looking at the code, I would expect something different around here:

but the blame says this code hasn't changed in at least 2 years (and based on the commit, I don't think it did what you are talking about).

Are you sure it use to work this way?

@TylerLeonhardt Thank you for confirming the mentioned behaviour.

I have not a done a thorough testing of this behaviour in the previous versions of vscode (<=1.96.*), however I used to always find my workspaces on top of the list, while typing their name.

It's very easy to download old versions of vscode from our website: https://code.visualstudio.com/updates/v1_97

Can you maybe try testing out your search on an old version to see if you can reproduce? Ideally, we can narrow down to a specific version.

If you have node.js installed on your machine, you can use our vscode-bisect tool:

npx @vscode/vscode-bisect -v 1.94

and replace 1.94 with whatever version you want to test.

Even in version 1.90 (8 months ago) I see this behaviour so I think it did not change recently, if at all 🤔

You said this. I wasn't able to reproduce anything different even when I went back to 1.94 and Ben tried 1.90.

I need you to provide an example workspace and an old version where you think it behaved differently.
