Drag to create MarkDown link creation for diffEditor session

Just as I can drag a document from the Explorer sidebar into an open MarkDown document to create a link to it, I would like to be able to drag the editor item representing a diffEditor session to an open MarkDown document and have a link created.

Current behavior does create a link, but only to the left side document being compared.

What would you expect the new link to open? The diff? And if so, a live diff using the file's current state, or the state of the diff when the link was created?

Yes, a live diff of the current state.
I write my notes in MarkDown and commit them in git. I can always traverse my git history, but being able to compare arbitrary files winds up being something I need to do often.
