Files are deleted permanently

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Yes/No

• VS Code Version: 1.100.3
• OS Version: Linux x64 6.11.0-26-generic snap

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Right click on any file / folder.
2. Delete

After that we will see a confirmation window that says: You can restore this file from the Trash.
And of course we have two buttons: "Cancel" and "Move to Trash".

The problem is that files are deleted permanently without falling into the Trash. I had a situation where I lost important files because of this and I don't want it to happen again. If it says files will go to the Trash, then they should be there, not disappear without a trace.

Thanks for creating this issue! It looks like you may be using an old version of VS Code, the latest stable release is 1.101.1. Please try upgrading to the latest version and checking whether this issue remains.

Please see if you can find any logged output that could help us find the source of the issue:

• run code --verbose from the command line
• reproduce the issue
• attach the log files you find from running the command "Open Logs Folder"

If you need to get all the log files, I can put them in an archive and send them.

What interestingly, I found my deleted files here: ~/snap/code/current/.local/share/Trash/files/
Maybe it's even a problem with SNAP itself.

This is already tracked in #233649

Root issue is #237608 because we override the XDG_DATA_HOME in our snap package on startup to address a file dialog crash #230454 (comment) it ended up regressing directories for bunch of other stuffs.
