Create Issue

The purpose of this TPI is to gather feedback on the third version of the Settings editor suggestions UX.

This feature is currently only available for paid Copilot users. I plan to select a free model to use for free SKU Copilot users next month.

Testing steps

  1. Open the Settings editor.
  2. The setting workbench.settings.showAISearchToggle should already be enabled. If not, enable it and reload the window. The Settings editor should now have a sparkle icon on the right side of the search box.
  3. Search for a query such as "increase text size" and wait for results.
  4. Once results show up, press the sparkle icon. The results should now filter to AI-recommended search results. If the sparkle icon is disabled, that means that GitHub Copilot Chat did not activate properly or has not finished activating, yet.

Please provide feedback on the UX and try it out with some different queries.
Let me know if a query does not provide an expected result. I plan to keep a list of settings that can use some more metadata.
