Description

@popandre
  • VS Code Version: 1.100.0
  • OS Version: Windows 11

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. in settings.json under "github.copilot.chat.codeGeneration.instructions" provide several files and save
  2. start a copilot chat session
  3. you can see , that the referenced files are not used in the conversation

This worked with the previous version of VS Code but stopped with the new version.

When asking copilot I get this answer:

  • "I can see the file paths you've referenced in your settings.json under "github.copilot.chat.codeGeneration.instructions", but I don't have access to their actual content in this conversation."
  • "While these files are configured to be used by GitHub Copilot within your VS Code environment when generating code suggestions, I don't have their contents in this chat session's context."

GitHub Copilot extension Version: 1.317.0
GitHub Copilot Chat Version: 0.27.0
