VSCode disappeared from %path% and all shortcuts to it became invalid

Steps to Reproduce: no idea

Yesterday the shortcut I had in Start Menu worked, today it doesn't - Windows says the target file is gone. The shortcut and the VSC entry in installed programs in settings don't have an icon. where code.exe doesn't find anything. I can see in echo %path% that %localappdata%\Programs\Microsoft VS Code\bin is there, but the folder doesn't exist. However, %localappdata%\Programs\Microsoft VS Code\_\Code.exe exists. %localappdata%\Programs\Microsoft VS Code only contains one or two folders and three unins000 files.

Temporarily working my way around by updating the PATH ENV and pointing windows shortcut to C:\Users\<LOCAL-USER>\AppData\Local\Programs\Microsoft VS Code\_\Code.exe
