Release date for EmbeddedGo 1.24?

According to: clktmr/gopher-kart#1 (comment) I would like to ask when do you plan to release embeddedgo release go1.24 ?

The reason I am asking, is because I am writing documentation for developing N64 games using EmbeddedGo, and this is crucial information, because it would change the installation guide. e.g. is this going to happen anytime soon or it's not even planned for 2025.

Can't say anything in regard to the releasedate, except that I know that @michalderkacz is currently working on the RPi Pico 2 support. But just out of curiosity, for whom are you writing the documentation, where will it be published and how did you stumble upon this project?

Let me add a bit of context here :)

I’ve always loved retro game development, but working in Assembly or even using a C-based framework hasn’t really fit well with my current time and energy. I’m not aiming to build the next AAA title—just something small and fun, in the spirit of PICO-8 games. But doing that “the right way” with C or Assembly on retro hardware takes a significant amount of effort and low-level knowledge.

So when I stumbled upon your repository that brings Golang to the N64, I was intrigued. At first, I assumed it might be similar to other experiments I’d seen—like this Go for GBA project, which was more like writing C using Go syntax. But after looking through your project—and especially the gopher rally-kart game—you’ve clearly built something that feels much more high-level. It genuinely looks like I could make a game without needing to understand every detail of the N64 hardware, and without the constant pitfalls of manual memory management or pointer issues.

That really got me thinking: why isn’t there a community forming around this?

I started searching Discord channels, but found no central hub or space where others are building, learning, or even sharing ideas around this. So I’ve decided to start documenting my notes as I go, figuring out how to build games using your N64 Go library—with the initial target audience just being me, but hopefully useful to others down the line.

For publishing, I’d like to use mdBook (similar in feel to gbdev’s Pan Docs) and host it via GitHub Pages using static HTML. My initial thought was to publish it under my personal GitHub account, but—if you’re open to the idea—I think creating a dedicated GitHub organization could help kickstart a real community around this.

I plan to start working of merging go1.24 into master-embedded next week. I don't know how much time it may take. Considering past experiences it may be 2-4 weeks depending on how much changes have been made that affect the Embedded Go part of code.

After after that we will get the go1.24 compatible compiler and runtime that should compile the whole code base as it is today. But this is only the first step. More changes are planned until the eventual release (which will probably be "go installable") for example the official support for N64, tools available via go tool and more. Maybe we will limit our goals - time will tell.
