We are a team of four developers from Germany, who wanted to bring their prototypical solar tool to the browser. Our primary focus is on developing the website openpv.de, which aims to simulate and visualize the solar potential on 3D building data. Our work is open-source.
About openpv.de
Our website provides users with a simple interface to determine the solar energy potential of their building. By using openly available 3D building data, socalled LOD2 data, openpv.de offers simple web based tool to estimate PV yields for both roofs and balconies. We aim at providing a first estimate of PV potential.
We believe in the benefits of collaboration and knowledge sharing, hence we have our codebase open source. This means that developers and researchers will have the opportunity to contribute to the project and adapt it to their specific needs.
Our two main repositories are the website
for the frontend code as well as simshady
for the simulation code on the GPU.
We thank our sponsors.
