Option to hide or auto-collapse the "Messages" tab after query execution #26302

Currently, in Azure Data Studio, the "Messages" tab appears automatically after running a query that generates messages (e.g., PRINT, RAISERROR, execution info).

There is no way to:

  • Close the "Messages" tab (no "X" button available)
  • Auto-collapse or minimize it
  • Prevent it from showing up after every execution

This makes the workspace cluttered, especially when working on small screens or when focusing on results only.

💡 Feature Request:

  • Add an option to auto-collapse or hide the "Messages" tab by default.
  • Or add a "close" button to manually remove it from view until needed.
  • Or provide a setting to control which tabs (Results, Messages, Chart, etc.) are shown after query execution.

This would improve UX and give users better control over their workspace.

Thanks
