Investigate sketch queries that are taking a long time

Can't open any previously saved files.

Details about the bug:

• Every time I click 'Open' the whole page just goes blank. Literally all blank white.

• Chrome, Version 73.0.3683.86

• Operating System: MacOS Mojave version 10.14.3

• Steps to reproduce this bug: Every time I log in to my account and click 'Open' the whole page just goes blank. Literally all blank white.

• I lost a lot of my homework that I had already done due to this. I'd really appreciate it if anyone knows how I could recover my files.

@ananya32 Sorry to hear about your lost files. I am not sure but I think the files must be safe in the server. This might be happening due to an error on the client side.

Can you please post the screenshot of your Developer Tools console tab when you click on Open? You can use the shortcut Ctrl Option J to open the console on Chrome.

Also, I would recommend you to try to reproduce this bug in Incognito mode or in some other browsers.

Here are the screenshots, and I have already tried to open it on incognito mode as well as on several different computers but it always crashes regardless.

thanks for the updates, @ananya32! i'm able to see your sketches in the database, so they are not lost ✨ i'm investigating to see why the API isn't returning your sketches!

it turns out this is actually a database error—when fetching a list of sketches from the server, it sorts them by created date, which was apparently taking up too much memory. i added an index, and though, it takes a while to load (maybe this sorting should be done client-side), it does load your sketches now!
