  1. Initial stab at a no-fork version of commands. It's hard, and doesn't… 

    … work yet:

- Tried to just remove everything except the core to see if I could get that to work
  ... can't write a type caster for span<const whatever*>
- everywhere that add requirements exists, needs a keep_alive on the subsystem or it could die
- there's probably other random stuff too
