Hi! We'd love to invite more contributors to be the stewards of the p5.js library! 🎊

Stewards are contributors that are particularly involved, familiar, or responsive to certain areas of the project. Their role is to help provide context and guidance to others working on p5.js. The stewards will often participate or be tagged in the issues and pull requests of their focused area, and they are encouraged to actively participate in the discussions, like weighing in on feature requests, providing thoughts on bugs, reviewing pull requests, guiding the overall direction of the discussion, etc.
Stewards are encouraged to take initiatives to share improvement suggestions of their focused area by opening issues and pull requests. You can read more about the organization of the project at contributor_docs/organization.md and p5.js Contributor Guidelines. Please make sure to read through the recently updated Steward Guidelines for more details.

Anyone interested can volunteer to be a steward! ✨There are no specific requirements for expertise, just an interest in actively learning and participating. Once added, a steward's username will remain in the stewards section of the readme until they request to be removed. If a steward is unresponsive for an extended period of time, we may ping them to ask about their status. And you can always take a break as a steward and come back! And don't forget to add yourself to the contributors list!

We can start with 1-3 stewards for each area. If you’re familiar with or interested in actively learning and participating in some of p5.js areas below, please reply to this issue mentioning which area(s) you are interested to volunteer as a steward! 👋👋👋

📣 Note: The last edit of steward list below was made on October 1, 2023. The most recent open call was closed on September 30, 2023. The next call to stewards will open in 2024. If you'd like to be a steward but are not added yet, please leave a comment below, and we will add you during next round.

@kungfuchicken

I'm interested in being a steward, especially around a11y, data, utilities, and build process/testing, but really wherever i can be of service.

I'm interested.

Thanks @kungfuchicken! Can you mention which area(s) you are interested in stewarding?

@GusBusDraws

I'm interested in being an image steward! I'm currently getting ready to defend my thesis next month though so I'll probably hold off until after then before I dive into the source code & start figuring out how things work

Ooohhh I'm interested in the image area of p5js. I've messed around a bit with images before. I'm curious to learn more about them and want to contribute in any way I can :)

Hi, I've been working a lot with p5's WebGL innards recently and would be interested in helping out in that section! I see it's already well covered with GSoC but if help is needed anyway (or after GSoC) I'm happy to jump in 🙂 I could also help with core/rendering if there's more need there.

I'm interested in being a steward in both Image and Color. I'm new to coding and P5.js (well, new to modern coding), and my background is in electron microscopy and fine arts; I'm a digital collage artist, teaching myself to draw and collage in P5.js.

Hey, I'm interested in being a steward in Typography and DOM. I have been playing around with Typography before. I would love to contribute in every way I can! 😃

@jeffawang

Hey there! I happened upon this thread and would love to contribute some time and effort here.

I could be down to help steward Math, Core, and/or WebGL (though yeah it seems there's already quite a few stewards there). I've used these features of p5, but I haven't contributed to the p5 codebase yet. I'd be happy to dig into the code for a deeper understanding soon :)

I would love to contribute. I'm not sure which of those categories suits me best, but I have a large number of sketches on my OpenProcessing profile: https://openprocessing.org/user/66875. If anyone would like to view them and suggest an area, I'd appreciate it.
