Why does the doPoll & doWrite code uses document.createElement

I was diving into the client code and found out that it uses document.createElement('script') and document.createElement('form'). Is this intended?

If not intended:

1. document.createElement in doWrite is actually making a POST request, can we change the code to use Fetch API?
2. I'm not sure what doPoll does, someone please enlighten me.

It's just a thought and I hope to learn more!
