Description:
When using Visual Studio Code with only the GitHub Copilot extension enabled, I notice that my Copilot chat conversation history is lost after certain actions (such as restarting VS Code or after a period of inactivity). Additionally, sometimes code edits made during the session are reverted or lost unexpectedly.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open VS Code with only GitHub Copilot enabled.
  2. Start a Copilot chat session and make some code edits based on suggestions.
  3. Close and reopen VS Code, or leave it idle for a while.
  4. Observe that the chat history is missing and/or some code edits are reverted.

Expected Behavior:
Chat history and code edits should persist across sessions and not be lost unexpectedly.

Additional Info:

  • OS: Windows
  • VS Code
  • Copilot extension
  • No other extensions enabled

Please advise if this is a known issue or if there are any workarounds.
