chat.mcp.enabled is "managed by organization" on newest Mac Release without organization policy

The chat.mcp.enabled is not configurable on the latest Mac releases with the message "Managed by Organization".

There is no active policy in place, that disables this setting and installing a custom user setting will also not enable it.

I found the issues 251365 and 251373 and it seems that issue was fixed for the Windows build only.

With a colleague, we tried upgrading to the latest insider version and indeed it is now working for him (Windows), but not with the Mac version.

• VS Code Version: Version 1.101.0 (June 12) and Version 1.102.0-insider (June 16)
• OS Version: Sequoia 15.5

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Install VS Code Insiders version 1.101.0.20250616
2. Open VS Code settings.
3. Search for the setting chat.mcp.enabled - it is disabled and can't be enabled

Additional Information

1. The Mac is part of an organization, but there are no policies for Visual Studio in place
2. If not logged in with a GitHub account, the setting remains configurable
3. The GitHub account is part of an organization, but the setting is not controlled by it - this was also confirmed by the GitHub support
4. Other colleagues, that are part of the organization and use Windows, can control the setting

Can you please share your exact commit of Insiders you're on (Code - Insiders > About..).

Are you certain your organization is not enforcing this policy? What does it look like if open your settings and search for @hasPolicy? Note that policy can be controlled outside of GitHub too via Group Policy (https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/setup/enterprise).

The issue you tagged (#251365) should resolve that specific issue for all platforms, it was not Windows specific.

Do you hit the same policy in VS Code stable?

Yes, I know this and also checked the enforced system policies. There is no policy for visual studio at the moment.
I can also log out of my company GitHub account and then change the setting freely. This is also possible if I log into my private account.

I also contacted the GitHub enterprise support and they confirmed, that there is no policy for this setting enforced through the account configuration or the organization on GitHub.

What is really strange, that I also tried with a colleague yesterday who is using Windows. He had the same issue first and was not able to change the setting, but after upgrading to the latest insider version (same build as above, but for Windows), he could edit it.

Does VSCode maybe check if the account is part of an organization and then puts the setting in "Managed by organization" and applies the default value, even if it is not configured?
