Search function is very slow after recent update

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Yes

• VS Code Version: 1.101.1 (Universal)
• OS Version: Mac OS Sonoma 14.7.6

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Search a term in a large repository
2. Change term
3. Search will hang on a prefix of what you typed in or the old term.
   rg works fine so it's not related to the search itself. Issue popped up after most recent update.

Mitigated this issue by reverting to the April release.
