Reasons for the request

The orbital project on pypi has been registered 11 years ago and has never received any published release nor any change. It has been sitting there empty and unused.

I have been working on a project that is the equivalent of R orbital project ( https://orbital.tidymodels.org ) for Python, and the project is finally in the state where it can be publicly released as OSS. For the sake of clarity and consistency with users it would be ideal to maintain the same name of the project.

The current project has no repository I could find, the GitHub repo doesn't exist anymore.

Contact and additional research

The author of the project has few other empty or abandoned projects on PyPi.
They seem to go as https://github.com/averagehuman on github, but the profile has no contact information and the project repository is gone, so I couldn't find any contact information.

I found a contact in the python epi parse project from the same user: https://github.com/averagehuman/python-epyparse/blob/master/setup.py

and I tried reaching the person asking if they would be willing to release the name, but it seems that the account was deleted

We are working to contact the owner to determine if they're reachable and have sent them a courtesy message.

Final determination regarding project ownership will be made by the PyPI Administrators when the research process is complete.

Just checking if there was any update, I saw the issue is still in the initial Status so I wondered

orbital has been deemed invalid. Additionally, the owner did not respond back regarding the status of their project.

This project name is recommended for release for future use.
