Strangely no, I had not logged in since my last message. However upon trying just now the same user/password combination now works with no "password no longer valid" message. I'll change my password just to be sure. Thank you.

That's good to hear! Please do make sure that your account is enabled with 2FA, as that was the likely reason why your email was unverified.
